Hooray for the Zoo Today!

Today we headed out to the zoo. This time, we actually looked at a few animals before we did the other things like the splash pad, train and bug zoo.

This is a red-headed Macaw. I was not too thrilled about taking my picture with him. He was fun to watch, though.
I wanted to feed the animals at the petting zoo, so mom decided to go into this gift shop to get some pet food. I quickly gravitated to this duck-shaped watering can.

Mostly, I wanted mom to feed the goats and other animals, but I finally got brave enough to drop a few pieces of food (mom gave them to me one pellet at a time) into the sheep pen. Mom gave me the little food cup and told me, "put in one piece at a time". So, I dumped the whole cup into the sheep pen at one time. :)

Today we actually saw 2 big, beautiful butterflies in the Butterfly Garden. They fluttered around quite a bit. It was fun to watch them. While we were standing near the butterflies, we heard the leopard roar very loudly. It was neat!

Of course, I wanted to stop and say hello to the elephants.

Mary and Maude were especially close up to the pavilion area today. That made it lots of fun.

I got to watch them eat some hay and throw dirt on themselves with their trunk in order to keep cool.

I mostly liked playing on the steps inside the elephant pavilion rather than watching Mary and Maude themselves.

Rather than throw dirt on myself like the elephants, I enjoyed a blue raspberry slushee and a small cup of vanilla ice cream as we sat by the splash pad. Then, mommy and me splashed around in the splash pad for awhile.

On our way out to the train, we stopped by the bug zoo for a bit and I played with some familiar toys,
put on a few bug-puppet shows for mom,

and examined some pretend bugs under a magnifying glass.
Then, we headed out to the train and took a ride before heading home. We ate lunch in the car and I was ready for a nap by the time we got home!

Daddy's Day Week

This has been a very fun week so far. Over the weekend, I had a special visit from my Aunt Janet. We played in the pool a bit together and ate a brownie together.

Then on Sunday, I had fun with my daddy all day long. We ate pancakes in the morning and mom dressed me up in my "I Love Daddy" shirt. I brought Daddy a little bag with his presents inside. I gave him 2 books. One was a "Little Critter" book by Mercer Mayer called "Just Me and my Dad" and the other one was a photo book that mom made for him. We read them both together.

Then, for dinner we met Daddy Ron, Aunt Kimmie and Uncle Kenny at Smokey Bones and all the dads got free dinner! Yum!
Monday and Tuesday we mostly stuck around the house and worked on potty training. I didn't make anything interesting in the potty, but I did give my "little man" (as he's called) a popcorn bath. That was lots of fun.

Today is Wednesday. We went to story time at the library. They did an experiment at story time that involved popping a balloon. I was not a fan of that experiment. Thank goodness a puppet show followed. Then, we went to Kindermusik and the best part of the day was going to eat lunch at Aunt Kimmie's house. She gave me some sheep hair clips. They have been a constant source of entertainment ever since she put them in my hair.

Week in Review

This has been a rather average week, but we always manage to make it exciting. We've done lots of swimming (Audrey and Sean came on Monday to swim with me), gone to Kid's Gym, and mom has definitely had her FILL of Chick-fil-a this week, but I never get tired of it.

Monday we headed out to the mall to get a special present for my Daddy for Father's Day. I got distracted by this neat Dora Explorer back pack. Check me out!
We played around at the mall, hugged some trees . . .

Fed some ducks (who cares if they're not real)
. . . and ate some Chick-fil-a.

Tuesday we headed back to the mall and visited their movie theater for my first free movie of the season: Horton Hears a Who.
I was a little bit short for the seat so Mom got me this "cinema seat", which I promptly discarded on the floor because I was perfectly comfortable without it.

Free movies are fun! The best part was that I got to eat special snacks like fruit gummies, nilla wafers and fruit punch!

Wednesday mom had to go to the dentist, so I hung out with my dad. We went to storytime, kindermusik and (of course) Chick-fil-a.
Thursday morning we headed out to (you guessed it!) Chick-fil-a for Toddler Time and I made a flower craft for my Grandpa for Father's Day. Here I am tracing my own little hand on the paper and then gluing it on the flower. Man, I love that glue stick!

. . . and I love chicken!

There was a little girl crawling up in the tunnel at the Chick-fil-a playground, so I decided to climb up there, too. Hi mom!

What goes up, must come down!

Zoo Train! (Alle, Alle-O!)

We headed out to the zoo today after mom got her oil changed. She says that the "mechanic" is like a doctor for cars. I didn't even know our car was sick! On the way to the zoo we listened to my new Kindermusik CD called the "Zoo Train Adventures". It was a great way to warm up to the day and, BOY! Did it ever get warm?! So, we rode the train a bit and then headed indoors to the Insect Zoo.

We took a train ride before the Insect Zoo and after we visited the Insect Zoo. I ate my lunch on our last train ride. It was a nice day for a train ride!

Here I am enjoying some "Bobs" (grape tomatoes) on my train ride.

Mom let me take a little green friend on the train with me. I had to make sure he didn't hop out!

"All Aboard!"
Taking a short rest before I played my heart out at the Insect Zoo!

I really enjoyed the magnetic story board with all different types of bugs! I made up fun stories about what each bug did and where they lived.

I tried on some PINK butterfly wings with help from another kid at the "Bug Puppet Theater", where I spend MOST of my time.

I took an occasional break from the puppet theater to play with other bugs. I got pretty good with these "bug tongs".

"Lots and lots of puppets!"

Me and the Lightning Bug put on a puppet show for Mom.

Check out my STINGER in the back!

Buzzzzzz! I tried on a Bee costume.

I made a catepillar craft with Mom. Well, mom did most of the work, but I put on the googly eyes!

I really got good at using that magnifying glass! Now, where did that ant go . . . .

Mom, your head looks HUGE in this thing!

Just restin' on the "Nani-size seat" as I called it.

Bugs, bugs everywhere!

. . . . and some pretty butterflies, too.
These life-size ants were crawling all over the vents in the bug zoo.

Mom got kind of hungry. Man, she's fierce lookin' when she's hungry, eh???
